About me:
Many moons ago I earned a college degree, with training in biology, fine arts and graphic design. The driving force behind what I do now, however, has more to do with a lifelong pursuit of meaningful connection to nature, especially how that relates to animals. I’ve wanted to be a part of the world of animals in a way that combined curiosity, observation, creativity, and love, either with my camera, my laptop or my paints.
Early on in my artistic career I discovered pet portraiture. These were detailed miniature paintings which were tiny in scale but brought enormous pleasure in return to both the recipient and me. However, I set aside my “Miniature Masters” business to have a child, travel and dabble in many other artistic endeavors over the next two decades.
Only recently has it occurred to me that painting people’s pets had been the most personally gratifying use of my skills. I’ve returned to it as a way to perhaps make more meaningful connections with other people. Every portrait has a story to tell, and with it a shared joy that’s not possible with any other type of project.
